3 Tips for Spring Makeup

The gray days of winter are nearly behind us and it is time to add some color back into our makeup routine for Spring. Wondering where to start with the latest trends in color? Here are a few tips to get you started:

Skin & Cheeks: We saw a sun kissed glow, almost bare face on the runways in Fall 2011. We see this trend return for Spring 2012. A quarterly facial to slough off dead dull skin cells will let your best skin shine through and is great paired with a tinted moisturizer with a bit of illumination to perfect uneven skin tones. I recommend Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint by Youngblood Cosmetics, a natural mineral line with high integrity ingredients and a beautiful finish.

Eyes: You can play with color on your eyes, so long as you go neutral with your lips and cheeks. A light dusting of colors like steel blue or rich eggplant can make a huge Spring impression with just the stroke of one brush.

Lips: The perfect shade of pink is the ‘it’ color for lips this season. If you’re fair-skinned, go for a more peachy-pink. Darker skin tones can play with more dramatic pinks with blue undertones. This wedding was an absolutely gorgeous production facilitated by Leah Bertoli of Bertoli Bridal & Design. The venue alone is amazing but Leah and her team really outdid themselves, from the custom lighting to the one of a kind floral arrangements, not a detail was spared. It was stunning!
And speaking of stunning… this sweet bride and her entire bridal party of dentists were just that!

Sara and I designed a look for her makeup that was appropriately glamorous and highlighted her natural beauty. Lauren Kelsay tied the look together seamlessly with Sara’s hair in a beautiful updo with lots of volume and style. Sara was a true beauty!

I had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous bride for her summer wedding in Sonoma. There was very little I needed to do to transform Miranda from her beautiful everyday self into a blushing bride. Together we created a look that felt very natural, the focus on her glowing skin and fresh pink cheek. Her hair has beautiful natural curl which we enhanced and pinned up just slightly to frame her face. The end result was absolutely stunning and flowed very naturally with the rest of the event.

The beautiful photos are the work of Jill Doherty Photography. Jill did a great job capturing the Miranda and Nick, their quiet excitement and overflowing love for each other.

What a gorgeous collaboration of abundant talent this event was! The very laid back bride and her handsome groom were a dream to work with. The breathtaking private estate in Napa (offered exclusively through Off the Beaten Path Weddings) was like a little slice of Tuscany right here in wine country!
